WE Chronicle: Erbert Chong, new name in Hong Kong

It’s been some time since we last saw a new designer rolling out a decent runway for a debut; so it was a pleasant surprise to receive the invite for Erbert Chong’s show, as well as his Asian-oriented collection called ‘Safari54′. The graduate of Persons and Fashion Institute of Technology and ESMOD combined – as he puts it – ‘the fun disco culture of Studio54 in 70’s New York with understated beiges and blacks ready for an urban safari adventure’. How these clues evolved into his designs may be obscure but the looks are indeed highly wearable, feminine and empowering. What WE love – silhouettes are striking but the lines are actually  simple and sleek. A revisit to classy, body-con styles.  Well done!

Available for retail online by end of 2013.
