Renowned Hong Kong-based designer Barney Cheng is spicing up what the locals call ‘whitebait’ – the minimal white canvas sneakers, in collaboration with Superga. The reworked style is the brand’s most celebrated Classic 2750, which will hit Superga flagship store in Hong Kong starting mid-October, 2013.

The Barney Cheng for Superga® range consists of a limited edition of 150 pairs of the Classic 2750style in three colors – Black, White and Red – each featuring a tone on tone faux leather “apron” in the same design as Cheng’s original DIY creation.   “The design targets to offer a subtle luxurious touch and fashionable edge to the classic Superga® silhouette.  The juxtaposition of the faux leather element and the casual style of Superga® allow for a unique spin to any outfit, making them a perfect everyday shoe as well as a great option for different semi-formal occasions,” said Barney Cheng.

What’s more – a donation of HKD100 per pair will be made to Crossroads Foundation, a Hong Kong based, non-profit organisation Cheng is associated with. Each pair of limited edition shoes come in a specially designed package complete with a high quality canvas shoe bag for easy storage and travel.

Pity it’s only in Hong Kong, love the white ones.

Whilst we cannot make every purchase ethically significant, buying a pair of sneakers that are so wearable to support a charitable cause is simply fair and just. A new to-buy.
